Bobcat Awareness and Safety Reminder

Published: July 17, 2025

We want to take a moment to remind everyone to remain aware and vigilant regarding wildlife in our community, particularly bobcats, which have been spotted in various areas of McKinney and nearby neighborhoods.

While bobcats generally avoid humans, they may occasionally wander into residential areas in search of food or shelter. Please take the following precautions to help ensure the safety of you, your family, and your pets:

⚠️ Safety Tips:

• Do not leave pet food outside – It can attract bobcats and other wildlife.
• Secure trash bins
– Keep them tightly closed and stored properly.
• Supervise small pets – Especially during dusk and dawn hours when bobcats are most active.
• Avoid feeding wildlife – This encourages them to return and increases encounters.
• Report sightings – Let management know if you spot a bobcat in the area so we can track activity and notify residents accordingly.

If a bobcat appears aggressive or is not leaving the area, please contact Animal Services at 972-547-7445.

The safety of our community is our top priority. Thank you for your continued cooperation in keeping The Preserve at Honey Creek a safe and enjoyable place to live.
